For gay people: how much do you politicize your ual orientation?

I am a strong, strong advocate for gay rights, but sometimes I feel a liTtle queasy when I am around my very political gay friends who act as if they're a separate entity (which they are in some ways). When I am referred to as the "straight" friend from one of my best friends, it hurts me inside. Is that really all I am to them? Aren't they missing the point of the gay rights movement, which is to fight and legitimize the holiness of the heart's affections? What I'm trying to say is how does this pertain to your life, and if you do adhere to these labels, are they safety nets for your uality and self identification? Please take no offense, I'm just curious (coming from the standpoint of a somebody who can possibly love both men and women equally)?
